【摘要】:ThisInternationalStandardspecifiesamethodforassessingtheshort-terminhibitoryeffectofwaters,wastewatersortestsubstancesonnitrifyingbacteriainactivatedsludge.Theinhibitoryeffectisestimatedoveranexposureperiodofusually3horupto24hwithweaklynitrifyingsludge.Themethodisapplicabletonitrifyingactivatedsludgederivedfromdomesticandsyntheticsewageandalsotosludgesfromindustrialandmixeddomesticandindustrialwastewaters.Thenitrifyingactivityofthesludgeisverifiedbytestinginthepresenceandabsenceofaspecificinhibitor(e.g./V-allylthiourea;seeAnnexA).Ifthenitrificationrateiswithinasuitablerangeforthetest,i.e.2mgofnitrogenpergramofsuspendedsolidandhourto6,5mgofnitrogenpergramofsuspendedsolidsandhour,thesludgemaybeuseddirectly.Ifnot,adjustmentsarenecessary(seeClause9).Themethodisapplicabletowater-soluble,non-volatilechemicals,andtowastewatersSludgesfromdifferentsourcesresponddifferentlytoagivenconcentrationofaninhibitormainlyduetoreactionbetweentheinhibitorandcomponentsofthesludge.Thisresultsinapartialneutralisationofthetoxiceffect.Also,sincethetestlastsonlyhours,anyinhibitoryeffectsmaydiminishorincreaseoveralongerperiod,e.g.inthecontinuousactivatedsludgesystem(seeISO5667-16).
