【摘要】:Coatingonsubstratescanbedamagedbyabrasionduringmanufacturingandservice.Thistestmethodhasbeenusefulinevaluatingtheabrasionresistanceofattachedcoatings.RatingsproducedbythistestmethodhavecorrelatedwellwithratingsproducedbythefallingabrasivevaluesinTestMethodsD968.Forsomematerials,abrasiontestsutilizingtheTaberAbrasermaybesubjecttovariationduetochangesintheabrasivecharacteristicsofthewheelduringtesting.Dependingonabradanttypeandtestspecimen,thewheelsurfacemaychange(thatis,becomeclogged)duetothepick-upofcoatingorothermaterialsfromtestspecimensandmustberefacedatmorefrequentintervalsasagreeduponbytheinterestedparties.Todetermineifmorefrequentrefacingisrequired,plotthetotalweightlossevery50cycles.Ifasignificantnegativechangeinslopeisobservedpriorto500cycles,thepointatwhichtheslopechangesdeterminestherefacingfrequency.1.1ThistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheresistanceoforganiccoatingstoabrasionproducedbytheTaberAbraseroncoatingsappliedtoaplane,rigidsurface,suchasametalpanel.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard,withtheexceptionofmilswhendeterminingcoatingthickness.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandardissimilarincontent(butnottechnicallyequivalent)toISO7784x2013;2.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
